The Lyon County Planning and Appeals Board is having its monthly meeting Wednesday evening.
Two major items will lead the discussion. On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Tuesday, Planning and Zoning and Administrator Sam Seeley said the main focus will be updates to the city-county comprehensive plan. One potential adjustment has to do with public trails and private land.
Seeley says updates are needed because the comprehensive plan was passed by both city and county governments in 2017 and several potential improvements have already been brought up since then. He also says the plan needs a review just in general terms after zoning regulations changes were passed late last year at the county level.
Virtually all the headlines related to county zoning processes over the last year have dealt with updates to zoning regulations. Seeley says this is different from the comprehensive plan discussions now taking place, but the two are related. He says the comprehensive plan serves as the county’s vision, while the regulations are the enforcement aspect.
In addition, Eagle Creek Stone LLC will present a conditional use permit request for a new rock quarry in far southeast Lyon County. The 600 block of Road Y and the 700 block of Road Y-5 are under consideration at this time.
The meeting is at 7 pm Wednesday at the Lyon County Courthouse Annex. Click here for a link to the potential edits.
