The Emporia State womens basketball team jumped out to an 11-0 lead and never trailed on the way to a 79-56 win over Rogers State Saturday.
Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn said they took advantage of opportunities.
Five players scored in double-figures led by Tre’Zure Jobes 19 points. Karsen Schultz finished with 14 points, Fredricka Sheats had a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Emily Weathers added 13 points and Ehlaina Hartman scored 11 points.
The Lady Hornets improved to 12 and 3 for the season.
Rogers State won the mens game 78-68.
They outscored Emporia State 50-38 in the 2nd half after the Hornets held a 30-28 lead at halftime.
Emporia State Coach Craig Doty said they missed an opportunity to build a lead in the first half.
Jumah’Ri Turner finished with a game-high 23 points. He was the only Hornet to score in double-figures.
The Emporia State men are now 8-8 for the season.
The Emporia State women next host Central Missouri on Tuesday.
