As close to 500 Lyon County seniors get their first dose of coronavirus vaccines Friday, plans are already coming together for next week’s vaccination clinic.
Lyon County Public Health Incident Commander Renee Hively says 600 vaccines have been allocated to Lyon County and should arrive by the middle of next week. Hively says 600 doses is currently the maximum the county can receive.
The Feb. 12 pod at the Bowyer Building will be closed, with vaccines going to seniors over age 65. Hively says Public Health staff are reaching out to the next 600 people on its burgeoning waitlist to get them scheduled. The waitlist now has around 3,000 people on it after it was officially established Tuesday.
Residents can still sign up for the waitlist by calling the Public Health COVID-19 Hotline at 620-208-3741 or by going online to www.publichealth.lyoncounty.org. Residents over age 65 are the county’s vaccination priority, with other Phase 2-eligible residents — high-contact critical care workers and people in congregate settings — asked to wait on signing up until more vaccines come in more regularly.
