The forecast for strong northwesterly winds has triggered several wind advisories for the KVOE listening area Thursday.
Lyon, Morris and Wabaunsee counties are in an advisory until 1 pm. Separate advisories are underway now for Chase and Greenwood counties until 3 pm. Coffey and Osage counties are in a separate advisory from 8 am to 2 pm.
Winds Thursday afternoon will be steady from 20-35 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph. The National Weather Service says there could be downed power lines and tree limbs. The high winds could also blow around unsecured objects. Any places that see light snowfall will also have visibility issues.
