It was too much CJ Powell for the Emporia High boys basketball team in Highland Parks 63-58 win over the Spartans Tuesday night.
Powell scored a game-high 31 points to lead Highland Park.
It was a close game thru the first half. The Spartans trailed 16-14 after the first quarter and 29-23 at halftime.
In the second half, Highland Park would build double-digit leads before the Spartans cut the deficit to 4 but could get no closer.
Emporia High Coach Beau Welch said they did not have an answer for Powell.
Charles Snyder led Emporia High with 24 points. Hunter Hines added 14 points.
The Emporia High boys and girls will host Topeka High Friday night.
