Numerous individuals both from the local community and outside of it stopped by the Emporia Chamber and Visitors Bureau offices Friday to bid farewell to long-time CVB Director Susan Rathke.
Rathke officially retired Friday after 27 years with the Chamber and Visitors Bureau including serving as CVB Director since 2014. Rathke says she has many proud accomplishments over her near three-decade-long career, but she is most proud of the work her office has done to “make Emporia a destination.”
When asked what she’ll miss most about her time with the CVB, Rathke says:
Chamber President and CEO Jeanine McKenna says the search for a new CVB Director has begun, however, it will be hard to find someone that can step into Rathke’s shoes. Thankfully, McKenna says Rathke has built a tremendous foundation that will support the new director once they take up that position.
McKenna is currently serving as interim CVB Director until a permanent director is found. The Chamber plans to post a job listing for the director’s position at the start of next week.
