Central Oklahoma won two games from Emporia State Thursday night.
Central won the womens game 77-70. Emporia State would lead by 9 points, 19-10, in the 1st quarter. They would hold a 40-37 lead at halftime. In the 2nd half, Central outscored the Lady Hornets 40-30 for the win to even the season series.
Coach Toby Wynn said they did not play well down the stretch.
A game and career-high 24 points from Fredricka Sheats were not enough for the Lady Hornets. Karsen Schultz added 16 points and Tre’Zure Jobe finished with 15 points. Central was led by Kelsey Johnson with 18 points. The Lady Hornets are now 8-3 for the season.
Central Oklahoma won the mens game 73-61 to complete the regular-season sweep of the Hornets. Emporia State started cold hitting 1 of their 1st 10 shots. They would cut the deficit to 4 with over a minute to play in the 1st half after trailing by 13. In the 2nd half, Emporia State took the lead at 42-40. Central Oklahoma would close out the game outscoring the Hornets 33-19 the rest of the night.
Coach Craig Doty said they could not get a stop when they needed one in the 2nd half.
Jumah’Ri Turner scored a game-high 21 points to lead Emporia State. Austin Downing added 12 points. Central was led by Jaden Wells with 16. The Hornets are now 7-7 for the season.
