Lyon County Commissioners had their latest update from Lyon County Public Health during their regular meeting Thursday morning.
During that time, Lyon County Public Health Officer Dr. Ladun Oyenuga and Incident Commander Renee Hively covered a number of topics including the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination effort currently in phase two. With vaccine limitations being well known at this time, a question was posed by Legal Counsel Marc Goodman in which he asked whether or not second doses will be available on time for those who have already received their first vaccination.
Hively says the county already received its second round doses Wednesday.
When it comes to future deliveries of vaccine doses, Hively states the county has to have faith in the word of the government that they will arrive as scheduled.
Hively went on to say during the meeting that when vaccines are more readily available she would like to hold a large-scale vaccination clinic for the general public. Additional details on that effort are currently pending.
Hively and Oyenuga again encouraged citizens to keep monitoring traditional media sources and trustworthy social media for announcements regarding future clinics.
In other business, commissioners approved two requests from Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods. The first was for a low bid for 180 gallons of Pathway from Nutrient Ag Solutions of Castle Rock, CO, for a total price of $5,670.
The second request was for approval of a quote from APAC-Kansas Inc. Shears Division. The quote is for a leveling, overlay and shoulder edge wedge project on Americus Road from 290 to 320.
The total cost of the project is just over $650,000 to be paid partially from the Road and Bridge Fund and partially from the Special Road and Bridge fund.
The Lyon County Commission will next convene for their weekly action session next Thursday at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse.
