Vaccine limitations are certainly hampering the process at the local, state and federal levels, but the hope is the current issues are temporary.
Lyon County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern says it may be a few months before the vaccines are readily available, so she encouraged citizens to be patient. She says Friday’s closed clinic for residents over 65 and without Internet access reflects the plan moving forward through Phase 2 of the process.
There will be more closed clinics as more people receive initial doses. And as more vaccines come in, Millbern expects multiple vaccine providers — with several clinics per week at different locations across the community. Off that topic, Millbern says vaccines are free but providers can charge an administrative fee. Public Health is not charging that fee to residents.
Millbern again encouraged people to listen to traditional media, including KVOE, and reliable social media sources for information on upcoming vaccination clinics or other plans.
Millbern joins KVOE during the 7:15 am Newsmaker slot every Thursday. Also — don’t forget to tune in to the KVOE COVID-19 Vaccination Briefing with updates from Newman Regional Health and Flint Hills Community Health Center. The Vaccination Briefings are at 8:20 am Mondays on KVOE and KVOE.com.
