“The Cut” comes to your TV and computer screens Tuesday night.
After the contest back in October and several months of postproduction, the showcase competition for Flint Hills Technical College takes place at 6 pm on ValuNet FIBER channel 3 and the college’s Facebook page. Vice President for Advancement Mike Crouch says the format is the same as in years past — even though the actual event went online for the first time due to COVID-19. He also says the contestants get some other lessons during the program.
The event showcases the Culinary Arts Department with four contestants participating, but it also features the Multimedia Design Department that captured around 400 hours of video for the 40-minute program.
The airing of “The Cut” also comes as renovations continue for the college’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality programs through the $2 million Inspiring Wranglers fundraising campaign. The overall project brings new baking, kitchen, and classroom space to the program to become accredited by the American Culinary Federation and allow students to achieve chef status upon completion of their associates degrees. The whole project could end in April.
