Light snowfall is possible areawide Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories that cover the KVOE listening area:
*Lyon and Morris counties are in an advisory from 6 pm Tuesday to 6 am Wednesday
*Chase and Greenwood counties are in a separate advisory that also goes from 6 pm Tuesday to 6 am Wednesday
*Osage and Wabaunsee counties are in an advisory from 9 pm Tuesday to 6 am Wednesday
Up to two inches of snow is possible, but most of the area looks to get an inch of snow. Slick spots are possible, especially on elevated surfaces like bridges or overpasses.
There are some slick spots from Monday’s rain after temperatures dipped into the upper 20s overnight:
*Seasonal driving conditions are in place for the Kansas Turnpike from Topeka to Wichita; US Highway 50 west of Saffordville; US 75 in Osage County and Kansas Highway 170 from Reading to Osage City
*Partly covered highways include Kansas Highway 177 north of Strong City and US Highway 56 west of Admire
*Completely covered highways include US-56 between Admire and the Lyon-Osage county line and Kansas Highway 99 north of Admire
Monday’s rainfall totaled close to an inch in several spots — including the KVOE studios with 0.90 inches. Other totals:
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.80 inches
*Ninth and Lawrence: 0.90 inches
*Between Hartford and Olpe: 0.82 inches
*Lake Kahola: 0.75 inches
