The Emporia High boys basketball team ran into the buzz saw that is Shawnee Mission South at the Ralph Miller Classic Friday. South outscored the Spartans 63-38.
The Spartans trailed 32-11 at halftime, did cut the deficit to 15 in the 3rd quarter but could get no closer.
Coach Beau Welch said there were a couple of keys in the loss.
Emporia High will play Coffeyville today with tip-off set for 12:45p.
The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM following the KU game.
