KVOE Station Owner Steve Sauder is the 2021 Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
Sauder was surprised with the announcement on KVOE’s On-Air-Chat Wednesday morning and stated he was completely speechless.
Sauder went on to say he was extremely humbled by the honor.
Sauder was born in Emporia and grew up in Gridley before the family moved back to the local community where Sauder graduated from Emporia High School and later Emporia State University. Sauder took over ownership of KVOE back in 1987 and has been actively involved in the community throughout his life in Emporia.
This includes serving in leadership roles on numerous boards and committees including as past president of the Emporia Jaycees, Emporia Rotary Club, Emporia Country Club, Emporia Public School Foundation and Emporia State Athletic Club.
The formal announcement of the lifetime achievement award will take place during the Emporia Area Chamber’s virtual 124th Annual Meeting next Friday.
Sauder’s surprise was not the only announcement Wednesday as Chamber President and CEO Jeanine McKenna also announced Mr. G’s Carwash as the 2021 Business of the Year recipient.
This follows the announcement last week of Allison Hall as the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year. The Chamber’s recipient of its newest award the Community Impact Award will be announced later this week.
All award recipients will be recognized during the Chamber’s Formal Annual Meeting on Jun. 25.
