For a record 3rd consecutive year the Kansas City Chiefs will be hosting the AFC Championship game after they held on for a 22-17 win over the Cleveland Browns Sunday.
The Chiefs scored on their first 4 possessions, a rushing touchdown by Patrick Mahomes, a touchdown pass to Travis Kelce, a team-record 50-yard field goal, and a 23-yard field goal by Harrison Butker.
Patrick Mahomes left the game in the 2nd half under concussion protocol and never returned.
Chad Henne would take over at quarterback. He would throw an interception. After the interception, the Chiefs defense would force a punt. Henne would have 2 big plays during the next and final possession. He would scramble for 13 yards on a 3rd and 14 play and completed a pass to Tyreek Hill on 4th and 1 to seal the win.
Coach Andy Reid said he had faith in Henne.
After the game, Coach Andy Reid said Patrick Mahomes was doing great.
The Chiefs will host the Buffalo Bills next Sunday in the AFC Championship game with kick-off at 5:40p.
Buffalo advanced with a 17-3 win over Baltimore.
They will talk about both games on Chiefs Kingdom Monday night beginning at 6 pm on Country 101.7FM.
In the NFC Sunday, Tampa Bay outscored New Orleans 30-20. Tampa Bay will play Green Bay in the NFC Championship game.
Green Bay advanced with a 32-18 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
