Both the Emporia High girls and boys basketball teams came away with wins over Topeka Hayden Friday night.
The Lady Spartans outscored Topeka Hayden 50-33. The Emporia High girls led by as many as 28 in the game. Coach Carolyn Dorsey says they still have to stay focused on improving.
Gracie Gilpin led the Spartan offense with 19 points. Macey Adams added 12 points.
The Emporia High boys held on for a 44-37 win over Topeka Hayden.
Hayden made a run in the 4th quarter but the Spartans were able to hold on for the win. Coach Beau Welch was not surprised by how the game unfolded.
Charles Snyder led Emporia High with 13 points. Chance Gilpin added 10 points.
Up next for the Girls a game at Highland Park on Tuesday.
The Boys open play in the Ralph Miller Classic Thursday against Carthage, Missouri in the 4:45 game.
