Crosswinds Counseling and Wellness is helping with the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic from multiple angles.
During KVOE’s Morning Show Monday, Crosswinds CEO Amanda Cunningham and Development Manager Lucas Moody discussed some of the ongoing efforts through the mental health agency. Crosswinds has recently developed a new virtual support group for those who may be struggling from a mental health perspective with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Moody the first program was held last Thursday and provides participants with a place to connect, ask questions and socialize with others. He says the program also helps residents who may be struggling to find commonality with others.
The program will take place every Thursday and residents can connect via zoom, the link to which can be found on Crosswinds’ Facebook page, or through the phone.
The new support group comes as Crosswinds is also assisting with the statewide Kansas Beats the Virus campaign to help slow the spread of COVID-19. According to Cunningham Crosswinds is currently working to further encourage mask usage across the local community.
One way the organization has been working to drive this point home is through the creation of a mask design contest. Cunningham says the contest is open to the general public and actually began in-house with Crosswinds’ own staff.
Those wishing to participate in the contest need to supply their own masks and decorations. You can find more information on the Crosswinds Facebook page or by calling Crosswinds at 620-343-2211.
