No injuries were reported after a small fire in an apartment house in east Emporia on Sunday.
Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Greg Davis says the fire at 626 Union was reported shortly before 3 pm. The fire happened in the kitchen while the residents were cooking, and the residents had the fire mainly out by the time firefighters arrived a few minutes after the initial call.
Both the fire and resulting smoke were limited to the kitchen. The cause is officially under investigation.
