President Donald Trump officially conceded the 2020 Presidential race to President-Elect Joe Biden in a video address Thursday evening.
Trump began the video by condemning the actions of rioters who stormed the capital building in Washington DC Wednesday. Trump referred to the “attack” as heinous saying, “America is and must always be a nation of law and order. The Demontrators who infiltrated the capital have defiled the seat of American Democracy.”
Trump then turned his attentions to the presidential election and his contesting of results over the past several months saying, “my only goal was to ensure the integrity of the vote.”
With Congress now certifying the results of the election Trump says “my focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power. This moment calls for healing and reconciliation.”
Trump concluded his adress by stating “serving as your president has been the honor of my lifetime. And to all of my wonderful supporters, I know you’re all disappointed but our journey is only just beginning.”
President-elect Joe Biden is set to take office on Jan. 20.
