SOS’s relocation is going well so far as the crisis services agency settles into its new home at 1420 C of E Drive.
The organization began its move this past weekend and have continued efforts through the early half of the week. According to SOS Director Connie Cahoone roughly half of their staff and services are now located at the new building with the remainder — the agency’s shelter and crisis services department — set to make the move in late March to early April.
Cahoone says the relocation was crucial not only for staff, who were at times working inside of deteriorating facilities but also for their clients. Cahoone says with SOS being spread out across town previously the move will make locating the agency much simpler which is crucial as many individuals who often come to SOS’s doorstep can be in life or death situations.
The move was funded through the Stronger Together capital campaign announced back in early 2019. The original goal was around $2.3 million, however, the agency later adjusted it to $4 million.
As the move and construction process continues, Cahoone says they are inching towards that goal, however, the agency could still use additional funding for other purposes.
