Speeding citations and DUI arrests were up over the New Year’s weekend last year, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Troopers made 26 DUI arrests last weekend, up from 15 a year ago. Speeding citations more than doubled from 329 to 733, while warnings also increased from 386 to 579.
Safety belt citations, meanwhile, dropped among adults from 54 last year to 31. Citations among teenagers went from none to seven.
Lyon County deputies are still compiling stats from the Take Down DUI effort that ran all last week.
