Coronavirus vaccines are now branching out locally.
After staffers at Flint Hills Community Health Center and Newman Regional Health received their first round of vaccinations over the past three weeks, staff at Emporia State’s Student Wellness Center received vaccines Monday. Nurses across USD 253 Emporia were vaccinated Tuesday.
This follows statements by both the Health Center and Newman Regional Health they would be reaching out to local healthcare partners to gauge the interest in vaccinations among staff in other locations.
The process of getting vaccinations for healthcare staff hasn’t been as smooth elsewhere across the KVOE listening area. Both the Coffey and Osage County health departments say they have not received any vaccines and have not been given any timetable for when they might start getting doses. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says all 105 counties across the state have received vaccines, but some doses may have gone to hospitals or long-term care facilities instead of health departments.
