If you still need to dispose of your Christmas tree following the festivities of the holiday season, you still have time to do so.
Tree collection sites at the Lyon County Fairgrounds north entrance, Dillon’s west entrance and Guion’s Showcase are still up and running until the close of business Monday. According to Solid Waste Supervisor Keith Senn, they have seen some traffic at each site, but not an abundance.
Senn says if you are unable to drop trees off at any of the locations ahead of the deadline Monday, you can still take them to the Lyon County Transfer station free of charge. Senn asks that you simply bring the tree in and separate it from other garbage and remove it from any bag it may be in upon disposal.
This comes as Senn says they did not see any major increase or decrease in the amount of trash picked up over the holiday season. He says with extra trash pickups now complete, solid waste crews will be picking up extra recycling throughout the week.
Senn says residents simply need to place their extra recycling next to their Polycarts for pickup.
