The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man found dead west of Emporia this past weekend.
Detective Sgt. Travis Mishler says John W. Brannan was found in the 600 block of Road 160 around 2 pm Sunday after a report of a deceased adult male. A medical examiner helped to identify Brannan, but a cause of death is awaiting autopsy results.
Brannan, 38, was on the Lyon County Most Wanted list for part of 2018 and the first half of 2019 for failure to abide before he was arrested. He had also been convicted in Morris County in 2007 for aggravated indecent liberties against a teenager between ages 14 and 16. He was released in 2017.
Mishler says there are no indications of any criminal activity connected to Brannan’s death.
