An Emporia man will spend close to five years behind bars after being sentenced for two criminal incidents earlier this year.
William Walters was sentenced Monday for his involvement in an alleged shooting incident and a separate attempted burglary incident a week apart last June.
Walters received 44 months in prison on a conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery count where a woman was shot in the 1200 block of Beverly on June 12. He received another 12 months after an incident where a game console was allegedly taken at gunpoint in the 700 block of Wilson on June 5.
In the June 12 case, Walters faced seven counts, including conspiracy, aggravated robbery, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and other charges before reaching a plea on the single count of conspiracy. Walters had originally been charged with aggravated robbery, kidnapping and other charges in the June 5 case but accepted a plea on a single count of attempted burglary.
The sentences will run consecutively.
