Messiah Lutheran Church and First United Methodist Church delivered the messages and meanings of the holiday season to local residents on Christmas Eve.
Both churches, like many others, held special Christmas Eve worship services Thursday afternoon and evening.
Messiah Lutheran held a drive-in service at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Thursday afternoon. During the service Pastor Eddie Hosch threw a “bit of a wrench” into the ideology of the season.
First United Methodist Church followed the drive-in service later in the evening with its annual Christmas Eve worship service from the church at 823 Merchant. During the service, Co-Pastor Ron Harris noted that “some things” are different this year.
Harris stated He “we gather in a different way, we share the songs and sing the songs perhaps differently as well.” Despite these differences, Harris says there are some things about Christmas that are “eternal.”
Both services were broadcast on 14KVOE, 96.9 FM and KVOE.com.
