What started as an impulse buy turned out to be a pretty big deal for Deb Miller.
The Emporia resident stopped by Kari’s Diamonds and Bridal on Thursday to pick up the grand prize in the annual Kari’s Christmas Ring for Kids fundraiser.
Miller had actually asked her daughter, Anna Ryan, if she had heard who had won the ring earlier in the week. Shortly after 4 pm Wednesday, she found out it was her after the on-air drawing on KVOE — and the flurry of calls that followed.
Miller will take home a vintage-style three-quarter-carat diamond ring set in 14-carat white gold. The ring is valued at $6,200. She says she was glad to be part of the fundraiser, which generated almost $4,400 for SOS. She also thanked Kari’s Diamonds and Bridal owner Kari Stookey for supporting a range of charitable projects every year.
