Frontline healthcare workers at Flint Hills Community Health Center and Lyon County Public Health are now getting vaccinated for coronavirus.
On KVOE’s Morning Show on Wednesday, Health Officer Renee Hively announced 200 doses of the Moderna vaccine came in Tuesday. She called the package a “box of hope.”
Newman Regional Health, meanwhile, received a round of Pfizer vaccines a week ago.
Hively says people getting vaccinated may have mild side effects for a day or two afterward, including soreness at the injection site, fatigue, muscle ache, joint pain, headache and a low-grade fever. If those symptoms last beyond 48 hours, people need to call their medical providers.
