While residents were not able to attend the 85th annual Emporia Seasonal Celebration in person, the local holiday tradition was still enjoyed throughout the local community Monday evening.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, USD 253 Emporia Schools still managed to present the over eight decades-old tradition to the community thanks to the ingenuity of students and staff alike. This year’s presentation featured pre-recorded performances from the EHS and EMS bands, choirs and orchestras as well as a radio theatre performance of “A Christmas Carol” by the Emporia High School Theatre Department.
The song selections included such traditional pieces as “Angels we Have Heard on High” as performed by the EHS band.
“Under Winter Moon” as performed by the EMS Chorale.
And “God Bless You Merry Gentlemen” as performed by the EHS Combined Choirs.
Monday’s presentation was broadcast on KVOE 1400 am and 96.9 FM, KVOE-TV at KVOE.com, ValuNet Channel 3 and USD 253.org. If you were unable to view this year’s Seasonal Celebration Monday evening, you can view it on the district’s website.
