After a slick Tuesday evening areawide, there could be slippery travels Wednesday morning although conditions improved overnight into early Wednesday.
A dusting to a quarter-inch of snowfall is common across the area Wednesday, which was enough to cause a lot of non-injury slideoff crashes Tuesday. Interstate 35 had several wrecks on the north edge of Emporia, as did part of the Americus Road and the Kansas Turnpike.
TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says slippery conditions may persist, depending on whether we get freezing fog and how long it may last.

8:45 pm Tuesday: Wintry weather brings handful of slide offs no injuries Tuesday
Minor ice and snow accumulations caused some difficulties for travelers Tuesday.
The Lyon County Emergency Communication Center reported to KVOE News a number of slide-off accidents occurred in parts of the county Tuesday evening. The majority of accidents were reported between mile markers 127 and 130 on Interstate 35, however, no injuries occurred and no medical attention was required.
Conditions seemed to improve in the area after the Kansas Department of Transportation treated the stretch of highway around 8 pm.
A handful of slide-offs were also reported on Americus Road during the evening commute hours, however, reports began to die off later into the evening.
With temperatures in the low 20’s and additional precipitation forecasted for the overnight hours, drivers are reminded to take their time and be vigilant especially during the early morning commute.
