The city of Emporia’s mask ordinance may be extended through the beginning of next year following the Emporia City Commission’s upcoming action session Wednesday evening.
If approved the ordinance will remain in place through Jan. 26. The current ordinance is scheduled to expire on Dec. 22. Lyon County’s mask ordinance for residents outside Emporia continues until Jan. 14.
Commissioners may also approve budget adjustments to four city funds — bond and interest, water, wastewater and the library fund — due to each exceeding the original 2020 budget amount.
A Community Improvement District package recommended by the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas last week will also see consideration and possible action. The CID would bring Quik Trip to part of the Debauge-Krueger property tract just west of the Flint Hills Technical College main campus near 18th and Graphic Arts if approved.
Commissioners may also approve a number of improvements to local parks as discussed during their recent study session last Wednesday. The projects would include upgrades and additions to Freemont, East Side and the Veterans Memorial parks if approved.
Potential action on two memorandums of understanding with Evergy and Dynamic Distribution may also be taken.
The meeting will begin at 7 pm inside the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
