Two area counties announced coronavirus updates as outbreaks continue at two long-term care facilities.
Greenwood County added 14 new cases since Friday, so it’s now at 364 total cases. The number of active cases went from 87 to 72. Two people have died.
Osage County added 21 cases between Thursday and Monday. It now has 610 total cases with 56 active cases and six deaths.
Meanwhile, outbreaks continue at Eureka Nursing Center and Diversicare of Council Grove.
At Eureka Nursing Center, there are 24 residents currently with active infections and 26 total cases since the pandemic started. That’s up from Thursday, when there were 22 total cases and 17 active cases. The active cases are being cared for in a special care unit set up by the center. Two residents have died. Fourteen employees have tested positive. Ten are on leave at home with the rest considered as recovered.
At Diversicare, there are now 51 residents with active infections, up from 49 in its previous report Wednesday. Diversicare has not given an overall total and it hasn’t said how many staff have been infected.
