Google’s suite of services is back up and running for the most part, meaning last-minute adjustments by Emporia Public Schools and other school districts are now being shelved.
Services including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Assistant, Google Meet, YouTube and others went down shortly before 6 am Central time. This impacted Emporia Public Schools, which relies on the Google suite of programs for education — and Google Meet has been vital in teaching the district’s remote learners.
USD 253 Emporia had a plan in place for remote learners in grades 6-12 to check in after each class to see if services were back up and running, with parents of prekindergarten through fifth-grade students getting notified when services were restored. Parents still having issues can call the USD 253 Technology Department at 341-2244 for guidance.
USD 389 Eureka also announced it was having issues early Monday. Services were apparently down for close to an hour. The reason has not been announced.
