Mild increases in new COVID-19 cases continued Friday.
Lyon County Public Health reported 54 new cases, slightly lower than the recent trend of daily increases seen this month. Increases of 70-plus daily new cases were commonplace throughout November.
The overall total now stands at 2,851 cases since March.
116 new recoveries saw the active case number drop considerably yet again from 241 Wednesday to 179 Friday. The number of deaths remained steady at 51 with four deaths pending final cause information from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Active hospitalizations also decreased from 11 to 8.

*Greenwood County reported 19 new cases with 87 active down from 99 on Wednesday. The overall caseload now stands at 331. There have been two deaths so far.
Marshall Elementary School in Eureka announced Friday that it was experiencing a shortage in available bus drivers, likely due to staff strain brought about by the pandemic. The school requested parents who were able to pick up their students from school on Friday to do so due to the shortage. The school later issued a social media posting thanking its school families for their flexibility.
*Chase County reported 30 new cases bringing the overall total 348 with 45 active, up from 32 last week. 10 deaths have also been reported.
