Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt says his office is involved in two major national efforts.
Schmidt says Kansas is now supporting Texas in a federal lawsuit to decide whether the Pennsylvania Supreme Court disregarded constitutional voting requirements on mail-in ballots during the presidential election. The amicus brief filed by Kansas asks the US Supreme Court to grant the Texas motion, hear the case and render a decision.
Schmidt is also joining a bipartisan list of state attorneys general that would force Facebook to sell off Instagram and WhatsApp, saying the social media conglomerate violates federal antitrust and monopoly laws. The lawsuit says Facebook has illegally bought competitors “in a predatory manner,” deprived users of competition, reduced privacy protections and cut back on services in the process.
