The KVOE Mitten Trees have been collected and there will be plenty of warm hearts and hands this holiday season.
The Mitten Tree Drive saw a total of 569 items of clothing collected for individuals served by SOS. This includes hats, scarves, mittens and coats amongst other winter clothing options.
For the past month, residents have donated to the drive by decorating the trees that were set up in seven different locations across Emporia. Once the trees were all collected, KVOE staff delivered them to the SOS main offices where SOS Community Relations Coordinator Kari Wedel expressed her gratitude to the community.
This year’s trees were located at Graves Drugs, Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply, Community National Bank and Trust, Flint Hills Mall courtesy of NexTech Wireless, Mel’s Tire, Skin Studio and the Lyon County Courthouse courtesy of Cargill Inc.
With the clothing in hand, SOS will now begin distributing the donations amongst their clientele. For more information about SOS activities during the holiday season, call 343-8799 or go online to www.soskansas.com.
