Following an alleged law enforcement chase and the arrest of a suspect last week, Lyon County deputies are asking the public’s help for additional information as their investigation widens into recent vehicle thefts or attempted thefts.
Lyon County Detective Sgt. Jacob Welsh says authorities have found one vehicle recently reported as stolen. The yellow Dodge truck was stolen from Morris County early Nov. 22. Americus Police tried to stop the truck, but the driver got away after a chase and allegedly ditched it in the 2200 block of Road U.
A white GMC Sierra pickup with the Kansas tag 038 DYN was reportedly stolen from Bushong between Nov. 14-17. That vehicle is still missing. Welsh says somebody also tried to steal a truck from the 1500 block of Road 250 on Nov. 23.
On Nov. 25, a white Chevy 1500 pickup was stolen from the 500 block of Wilson. A deputy tried to stop the truck but had to end the chase. It was found the next day in the 1300 block of V.
Later that day, a Chevy 2500 truck was stolen from the 1700 block of Road 120. This is the truck authorities say was involved in a chase that went into Emporia and led to the arrest of Dustin Craige of Council Grove. Formal charges are still pending at this time.
