The Lyon County Attorney’s Office has released the name of the individual who led Emporia Police and Kansas State Troopers on a high-speed pursuit that concluded in the northwest part of Emporia last Wednesday.
According to Lyon County Attorney Marc Goodman, the suspect has been identified as Dustin Craige of Council Grove. Formal charges are currently pending.
Craige was apprehended after a vehicle pursuit which began on the Kansas Turnpike at mile marker 140 shortly before 4:30 pm. The vehicle Craige was driving, a 1993 Chevrolet Pickup Truck, was reported stolen earlier in the day.
KHP began the pursuit and had to disengage shortly thereafter to avoid a vehicle accident as Craige was allegedly driving erratically. The vehicle was later spotted at 12th and Graphic Arts in Emporia around 4:40 pm which is when the Emporia Police Department became involved in the pursuit.
Craige allegedly struck a parked vehicle at 15th and Rural before crashing at 23rd and Hillcrest.
