Despite some alterations due to the COVID-19 pandemic expectations were high for local retailers during Small Business Saturday.
Trox Gallery and Gifts Owner Kaila Mock tells KVOE News she has been expecting a great turnout not only for the day of deals but the holiday shopping season as a whole. Her enthusiasm comes as a larger emphasis has been placed on supporting small businesses and local retailers over the past eight months.
Mock adds that smaller local businesses, such as Trox, offer more unique one-of-a-kind products that you won’t find in so-called big-box retail stores.
With the ongoing pandemic, retailers have been making a number of adjustments to policies and operations to help keep residents safe and healthy. This includes the Sweet Granada which has placed a heavier emphasis on online shopping this year.
With that in mind, Redeker suggested some items for local shoppers that are both easy to ship and always popular during the holiday season.
Will Spencer of Nature’s Paradise says they have plenty of great sales available for supplements that are more timely now given the ongoing pandemic. Spencer says they were “ahead of the curve” this year when it came to preparing for the holiday rush.
The larger emphasis placed on online shopping is not just an occurrence in the local community as many retailers on a national level moved to online-only Black Friday deals earlier this week. Additionally, many local businesses have extended some of their Black Friday and Small Business Saturday deals through the coming weeks all in an effort to reduce high levels of foot traffic inside stores at one time.
