It was a history making day for the Olpe Eagles as they claimed the 2020 Class 1A State Championship in Hays Saturday.
Olpe defeated the Oakley Plainsmen 14-0 thanks to two touchdown passes by junior quarterback Damon Redeker to seniors Kynden Robert and Gabe Castillo. Saturday’s win was the second state championship victory in Olpe school history following the Eagle’s championship win in 2014 over El-Saline.
Saturday’s win also marked the third undefeated season for the Eagles in school history as the Eagles ended the year 13-0. The other two undefeated records came in 1964 and 1965.
