Local coffee shops are hoping a donation from an anonymous source will help healthcare workers get a short-term boost — and thus offer them some relief from the ongoing grind linked to COVID-19 care.
Both the Granada Coffee Company and Gravel City Roasters got $1,000. Gravel City owner Angie Baker says she’s honored to be part of an effort to make life better for medical staffers, and patrons — both new and well-established — have enjoyed the fruits of this donation.
Granada owner Bev Beers says traffic has been steady at her shop, and medical employees have enjoyed the free coffees.
The coffee shops are offering a free coffee to employees at Newman Regional Health, Lyon County Public Health, outpatient doctor’s offices, long-term care workers and first responders. This follows a similar donation that benefited school employees back in August.
Gravel City customers are reminded the shop is closed through the Thanksgiving break and will reopen Monday. Patrons of both shops are also encouraged to tip their baristas.
