Sweetness abounded as Emporia Public Schools had its annual American Education Week cookie delivery Tuesday.
The district adjusted its approach to the delivery process, reflecting the COVID-19 atmosphere. The delivery group was smaller than normal and drove separately to the different stops. Cookies were also individually wrapped for teachers, administrators and support staff. KVOE aired interviews with several staffers Tuesday morning.
Community Relations Director Lyndel Landgren says the district is successful because of the hard work of teachers, administrators and support staff. It is also successful because of the support of parents and community partners.
Close to 1,200 cookies were handed out Tuesday.
The tour stopped at every Emporia school building and facility. Besides being a thank-you for the hard work done across USD 253, Landgren says the event is also a showcase for what’s happening across the district.
