A cause has yet to be determined following a minor structure fire in central Emporia Tuesday morning.
Fire crews responded to the 300 block of West 15th Ave. Shortly after 9 pm Monday morning for a reported structure fire. According to Emporia Fire Batallion Chief Eron Steinlage, upon arrival crews discovered a fire had developed in the attic of a residence at 310 West 15th.
Crews had the fire under control in less than ten minutes according to Steinlage. Smoldering insulation had to be removed from the attic to avoid the possibility of a rekindle, however, a total damage estimate, as well as the cause of the fire, are currently pending.
Traffic was blocked on West 15th in all directions from State Street to Center Street for close to an hour as crews worked to clear the scene. No injuries were reported.
