Healthcare workers have been putting in long hours since the coronavirus pandemic began — and especially so now with higher caseload numbers than at any time since the pandemic started in March.
With that in mind, Newman Regional Health and Emporia Main Street have partnered to start an “Adopt a Healthcare Hero” program that’s now underway. Director of Business Development McKenzie Cinelli at Newman Regional Health is excited to see how this will boost morale at the hospital.
Main Street Community Development Coordinator Jessica Buchholz says the agency wanted to recognize the work healthcare providers have been doing the past eight months.
Buchholz says there are several ways residents can get involved. One is by boing online and buying a Main Street gift certificate. Another is by buying items for gift baskets to be created later. If you don’t know the full name of the hero you want to adopt, all you need to do is put first name and department down and the hospital will make sure the donations get to the right person.
This is the latest partnership between Main Street and Newman Regional Health, including the creation of masks for staff and patients and the White Ribbon recognition campaign.
