Two Coffey County residents were involved in a crash outside LeRoy on Friday, and one was hurt during the incident.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Kansas Highway 58 about two miles east of LeRoy shortly after 4:30 pm. A car driven by 26-year-old Katelyn Rogers of LeRoy and a semi driven by 21-year-old Frederik Bouwer, also of LeRoy, were both westbound. However, as Bouwer slowed down to enter a private drive, Rogers didn’t slow down and instead tried unsuccessfully to avoid the semi. Instead, her car hit the trailer and went through a ditch.
Rogers went to Coffey County Hospital in Burlington with suspected minor injuries. Bouwer was not hurt. Both were wearing seatbelts.
