Significant improvements are coming to Lebo and Council Grove, thanks to cost-share agreements with the state.
On Thursday, Governor Laura Kelly and Transportation Secretary Julie Lorenz announced new projects that will be funded in large part through the Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program. Lebo is receiving over $205,000 to build a shared-use path between downtown and the town’s business park. City Council member Jim Jones says this is a major safety investment for the town.
The project will go out for bid next spring.
Council Grove, meanwhile, is getting over $280,000 to replace the bridge superstructure over Laird’s Creek. The project could go out for bids as soon as next month.
Both projects are receiving funds through the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Cost Share program, with almost $5 million in total being set aside for nearly 15 projects.
