A Burlington doctor has surrendered his license to practice healing arts in Kansas, according to the State Board of Healing Arts.
Radiologist Kevin Hughes was accused of violating the Healing Arts Act by failing to properly read diagnostic radiology images with different patients. The Board of Healing Arts has not offered additional details, but it says Hughes had repeated cases of failing to reach a standard of care to a point that “constitutes ordinary negligence.” The board also says Hughes had a pattern that showed either inability or incompetence as a doctor and he “repeatedly failed” to serve with a reasonable level of care, skill and treatment.
Surrendering the license is considered as revocation by the board. Hughes cannot apply for reinstatement or any stay of this decision for three years.
Hughes graduated from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984. He received his license in 1997.
