Part of US Highway 50 just west of Strong City is set to be officially closed for much of Thursday.
The Kansas Department of Transportation will close the highway so crews can hang beams as the Kansas Highway 177 bridge replacement work continues. Flaggers and a pilot car will use the K-177 ramps to direct one-lane traffic around the work zone, and delays of five minutes or less are expected. Heavy truck drivers need to be advised there is a 120-foot vehicle limit for the detour, which should go from 10 am to 4 pm.
Kansas Highway 177, meanwhile, remains closed from Fourth Street in Strong City to just north of the US-50 junction. KDOT expects the work could be completed on the nearly $3 million project by late January, weather permitting.
