A recent article in the Wall Street Journal led to a sweet deal for area veterans, courtesy of the Sweet Granada.
Shortly after the Wall Street Journal featured Emporia’s response to coronavirus, including the Sweet Granada’s response, business owner Kim Redeker says 95-year-old World War II veteran Bob Bard called her to share memories of his pre-flight school days in Emporia — and also to offer a generous contribution to help area veterans.
Veterans can get a free gift box Wednesday. They simply need to show their ID and show up during normal business hours of 10 am and 7 pm.
The Sweet Granada isn’t the only local business honoring veterans on the holiday. Among them: Wash and Vac is offering people a chance to register for one of two $100 gift cards, with one going to the winner and one to the veteran of the winner’s choice. Mr. G’s Express is also offering free ultimate washes to veterans and active military on Wednesday.
