Yet another name change is coming for a widely popular event in the Emporia Community.
Dynamic Discs has announced they will be changing the name of the annual Glass Blown Open tournament. The event, which brings in roughly 3,000 people per year from all across the country and the world, will now be known as the Dynamic Discs Open.
Dynamic Discs owner Jeremy Rusco says the name change is in part due to the ever-growing popularity of the sport of disc golf as well as the increasing visibility of the tournament on a national and worldwide scale.
Rusco says the name change will not bring any changes to the tournament, aside from some rebranding. He promises participants can still look forward to the same celebration of disc golf they have come to expect from the annual event over the past several years.
This year’s Glass Blown Open had to be canceled due to concerns related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The name change follows the name change of the Dirty Kanza to UNBOUND Gravel last month. The 2021 Dynamic Discs Open will take place in the last week of April.
