The MIAA is holding their Basketball Media Day virtually Tuesday.
With that comes the Coaches Preseason poll. The Emporia State women are ranked number 1 receiving 4 first place votes.
Senior Daley Handy says it is deserved recognition.
Coach Toby Wynn says the players have returned hungry.
Nebraska Kearney is the number 2 ranked team followed by Central Missouri, Pittsburg State, Fort Hays State, Missouri
Western, Central Oklahoma, Washburn, Northwest Missouri State, Missouri Southern, Newman, Northeastern State, Rogers State and Lincoln.
The Emporia State men are preseason ranked 12th.
Senior Jumah’ Ri Turner says they are an improved team from a year ago.
Coach Craig Doty says they like what they have seen.
Northwest Missouri State is the coaches choice to win the conference championship.
Missouri Southern is 2nd followed by Washburn, Rogers State, Missouri Western, Central Oklahoma, Fort Hays State, Pittsburg State, Lincoln, Nebraska Kearney, Central Missouri. After Emporia State its Northeastern State and Newman.
The Emporia State women and men are scheduled to open their seasons November 19th at Nebraska Kearney.
